Paul Warren I honestly cannot understand the thinking behind this. Surely people know that this so called violation of BAFIA brought about the revelation of the abuse and misappropriation of public funds. Question is, is/was BAFIA intended to conceal from revelation corruption, theft, and cheating? If so, then can in future the police also be stopped from employing information in bank statements for prosecutorial purposes?

I'm pretty sure the folks in UMNO are aware that prosecuting Rafizi is the dumbest thing that UMNO will ever do to tarnish it's image. starr Clearly, Najib and his Umno/BN govt are now apprehensive, frightened of further exposures of Umno/BN corruption, cronyism and nepotism. The recent spat of public revelations of the rogue cultures of Umno/BN by Rafizi Ramli have been most damaging to Najib's reform credentials and the continuing abuse of power by the govt. The arrest of Rafizi Ramli is just an attempt to silent him as whistleblower. The provision of Bafia has never been invoked by the authorities in the past to protect the banking details of any individual account holders, and yet it's being used to silent govt critics. In more advanced countries, Rafizi Ramli would have been shielded from prosecution by the authorities as a matter of course, to serve the greater interest of the public instead of invoking the banking secrecy laws to silent him and protect the law breakers. Is this how Najib intends to turn Malaysia into the best democracy in the world? In fact, quite the reverse would result.

avatar1 As much as I sympathize with Rafizi with his arrest, but its time whistle blowers like Rafizi and others take note of provisions in the law and not caught up by it. The BN is just waiting to shoot anyone with any legal provisions it has to claim that they have nothing to do with the arrest and its a legal matter. I do like to suggest Pakatan leaders to cover themselves from legal harrassments like this. But we are behind you Rafizi and you are one courages man indeed.

hello As always the Police and Authorities have their values upside down! They prosecute and harass the messenger instead of the criminal, although in this case they were forced to prosecute both as the evidence was already in the public domain! He has earned our respect. The opposite holds for Shahrizat and husband Mohamad Salleh. They deserve our contempt.

anak, bangsa, malaysia This is how the BN govt rund and manages the country. They say they have 50 years of experience to govern. Is this the Islamic way of rewarding Rafizi? Rafizi was just ensuring that there should not be corruption and in order to do that it is his responsibility to expose details of which some persons wrong doings will be brought to light. This is truly Islamic where justice must prevail and seen to be prevail. However, what we see is the opposite? Every religion including buddism, hinduism, christianity and judaism preach universal justice and peace and good governance. Why is it in M'sia , which is an Islamic state , it is just the opposite? All those true to universal freedom, justice and peace must abhor such cruel treatment against Rafizi. Lets vote for change then.

They clearly know my credit history and spending preferences. These are clear violations of BAFIA as my banking info were leaked out to many parties. I am sure I am just one of millions of Malaysians facing the same invasion of privacy.
